Annie Ballin is a true creative in every sense of the word - she is an artist, designer and creative director as well as a general contractor and team leader.  Her goals are to understand what a client wants and to make their vision a reality, while respecting budget limitations and architectural integrity.

Her design acumen coupled with her keen practical sensibility keep her projects on time and on budget.  She understands the building process, and the value of maintaining forward momentum during a project or renovation, keeping every aspect in lockstep.

Annie takes a team approach to managing all of the disparate talents that a large scale project brings together – from builders to painters to plumbers.  Using her unique blend of cheerful but determined attitude, Annie is able to create an environment where people work closely together without the disagreements that can plague a building project.

Known for her strong sense of color and visionary approach to spatial relations, Annie excels at creating extraordinary living areas even in the smallest of rooms.  By treating the client’s budget as if it were her own, Annie can work within any budget parameter to make her client’s dreams a reality.

She is the owner of Annie Ballin & Company, a creative home design company focused on combining the most creative thinking with the best, most unique products available to create inspired living spaces that delight their owners.

Also an accomplished and largely self-taught painter, Annie’s preferred medium is watercolor, which requires patience and accuracy in every stroke of the brush and an unrelenting eye toward color.  Her art reflects the bucolic landscape around her and the beauty of everyday scenes such as a red barn in the snow, horses or cows grazing in a field and the white steeple of a New England church against the bright blue autumn sky.

A graduate of Colby-Sawyer College, Annie’s career has gone from teacher to director of children’s library program, to artist to designer; all professions that have allowed her to focus on her family first.  She currently lives in New London with her husband, Larry Ballin.  Together they have three children:  Jack, Ethan and Megan.  When she has time, she likes to ski and ride horses.
